Beefmaster Tongue

$21.00

Beef tongue is one of the most flavorful and underrated cuts of the animal. Our Purebred Beefmaster Tongue delivers deep, traditional beef flavor with a remarkably tender, rich texture when properly cooked. Slow cooking breaks down the hardworking muscle and connective tissue, transforming it into succulent meat that slices beautifully or pulls apart with ease.

Beef tongue is especially popular for lengua tacos, but it is also excellent in sandwiches, hash, rice bowls, soups, stews, and braised dishes. After cooking, the tongue can be sliced and served immediately or crisped on a hot skillet or griddle for caramelized edges and even more flavor.

Preparation: Place the thawed tongue in a large pot and cover it with water or beef broth. Add onion, garlic, bay leaves, salt, and your preferred seasonings. Gently simmer for approximately 3–4 hours, or until the tongue is fork-tender. Remove it from the liquid and peel away the thick outer skin while it is still warm. Slice, chop, or shred the tender meat inside.

Cooking Methods: Stovetop simmering, slow cooking, pressure cooking, smoking followed by braising, or sous vide. For a slow cooker, cook on low for approximately 8–10 hours. Cooking time may vary depending on size.

Frozen & Thawing: Each Beefmaster Tongue is individually vacuum-sealed and sold frozen to preserve freshness and quality. Thaw in the refrigerator for 24–48 hours before cooking. For faster thawing, keep the package sealed and submerge it in cold water, changing the water every 30 minutes. Do not thaw at room temperature.

Average Weight: Approximately 2–3 pounds. Because every tongue is individually harvested and packaged, actual weight will vary.
